Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Police state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking political figure said the attack rendered him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
